National Safe Motherhood Day  the birth anniversary of Kasturba Gandhi, wife of Mahatma Gandhi.Maternal mortality refers to death duringpregnancy childbirth or postpartum after childbirth  Sadly  many of these deaths are preventable with access to proper healthcare.  National Safe Motherhood Day aims to raise awareness about this issue and to promote access to quality healthcare for pregnant women.
