The Detroit Pistons are an American professional basketball team based in Detroit Michigan. They compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the Central Division of the Eastern Conference. Founded in 1937 in Fort Wayne Indiana as the Fort Wayne Zollner Pistons. Joined the NBA in 1949 after the merger of the Basketball Association of America (BAA) and the National Basketball League (NBL). Won three NBA championships 1989 1990 and 2004. Known for their tough physical playing style earning the nickname Bad Boys in the late 1980s and early 1990s. In a rebuilding phase focusing on developing young talent like Cade Cunningham and Saddiq Bey. As of today (December 27 2023) they have a 12-18 record and are currently not in playoff contention.
