She attracted recognition in 2011 for her lead part in the science fiction thriller Super 8, which earned her a Spotlight Award at the Hollywood Film Festival.  She then went on to star in the drama-comedy We Bought a Zoo , the drama Ginger & Rosa , and the fantasy features Maleficent  and Maleficent: Mistress of Evil as Princess Aurora.
