Republic day 2019 in India will be celebrated its 70th Republic Day on 26th of January2019, at Saturday.First Republic Day of India was celebrated in 1950.

The Constitution was adopted by the Indian Constituent Assembly on 26 November 1949, and came into effect on 26 January 1950 with a democratic government system, It is a day to remember when India's constitution came into force on January 26, 1950,completing the country's transition towards becoming an independent republic.

Republic day in India is celebrated every year with great pride on 26th of January to honour the Constitution of India. It had replaced the Government of India Act, 1935 into the governing document of India.On this day, national holiday is declared by the Indian Government. The new Indian Constitution was sketched and approved by the Indian Constituent Assembly and decided to celebrate it on 26th of January every year as India became a republic country.

The reason January 26 was picked as the day for the constitution to come into force is because in 1929, during the Lahore Session of the Indian National Congress, where Jawaharlal Nehru was elected president, a resolution was passed demanding complete independence for the first time.The day was selected for this purpose because it was the day in1930 when the declaration of indian independence ( Purna Swaraj) was proclaimed by indian national congress.

However, it wasn't until 1947 that the demand was to be met. To honour the significance of the first Independence Day, members of the constituent assembly decided to enforce the constitution on January 26, marking it as Republic Day
