Born on March 22, 1949, Ardant grew up in Monaco.  She began acting on stage in her late teens.
Her film career skyrocketed in 1981 after she was cast in the lead role of François Truffaut's
The Woman Next Door. The two fell in love during filming and had a daughter together. Truffaut
sadly passed away a few years later.
